About the Cathedral

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is one of Manhattan’s most stunning sanctuaries, and the largest cathedral in the world. It boasts an interior of over 120,000 square feet, and some of the most spectacular stained glass you’ll see anywhere. Learn more about the history and architecture of the cathedral, and be sure to join the Sebastians on Monday, April 24 for a chance to explore this unforgettable space after dark.

About the Experience

Unlike anything you’ve ever heard. Imagine entering into a dream, into the mind of Johann Sebastian Bach himself. That’s what it will feel like as you step into this glorious Cathedral and begin hearing the strains of Sonata No. 1 in G minor. Or there, in one of the chapels: Partita No. 3 in E major.

Sit or stand, roam as you wish: each of Bach’s masterpieces for solo violin will be expertly interpreted by one of our celebrated violinists for you to explore. You may listen to one all the way through, wander from piece to piece, or pause halfway between here and there, enjoying the subtle interplay between the Bachian counterpoint, strains of one and strains of another, as Bach’s genius surrounds you in one of the largest cathedrals in the world.
