Baroque music knew no borders. Couperin looked to Italy while perfecting the French dance suite; Bach looked to France while creating music that feels unmistakably his own. In a celebration of the 300th anniversary of Couperin’s Les Nations (1726), this program pairs selections from his elegant fusion of European traditions with Bach’s own irresistible dance music. Joined by Julia Bengtsson and the New York Baroque Dance Company, the Sebastians bring these international influences to life, revealing how movement, rhythm, and style united an entire musical continent.
