Concertos were the blockbuster hits of the Baroque—brilliant and colorful musical conversations. Take a grand tour of baroque Europe without leaving your seat, from Handel’s dramatic elegance in London to Pierre-Gabriel Buffardin’s virtuosity in Dresden and beyond, our season premiere follows the concerto across the continent, with each composer bringing a distinctive national voice to the genre. Featuring baroque flute and string orchestra, these works showcase the remarkable variety and imagination that made the concerto one of the eighteenth century’s most exciting musical forms.
